Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how DreamMirror collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use the DreamMirror mobile application and related services.
1. Who We Are
DreamMirror is a dream journaling application that helps users record dreams, review reflections, and explore recurring patterns over time. Because dream journals can contain personal and sensitive material, we aim to describe our data practices as clearly and accurately as possible.
2. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly
- Account information, such as your email address and login credentials.
- Profile information you choose to set, such as your reflection style or journaling intention.
- Dream journal content, including titles, dream text, tags, emotion-related fields, sleep-related fields, and other notes you choose to save in the app.
Information stored on your device
- Certain app preferences may be stored locally on your device, such as reminder settings, list/privacy display preferences, and app lock preferences.
- Authentication-related data may also be stored locally so you can remain signed in securely between sessions.
Technical information we may receive during normal service operation
- When your device communicates with our servers, we may receive standard technical request information such as IP address, timestamps, and basic request metadata.
- Our servers may also record error information when something goes wrong so we can diagnose issues, protect the service, and improve reliability.
Notifications
- If you enable morning reminders, your reminder preferences and selected reminder time may be stored on your device so local notification scheduling works correctly.
3. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Provide the core DreamMirror experience, including account access, dream saving, journal history, and reflections.
- Generate AI-assisted reflections and pattern insights from dream content you submit or features you use.
- Maintain your account and sync journal data across supported sessions or devices associated with your account.
- Schedule and support reminder features you enable.
- Operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the app and backend services.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
4. AI Processing and Reflections
DreamMirror uses AI features to generate reflections, summaries, and pattern-based insights. When you use these features, relevant dream content and structured journal data may be sent to OpenAI for processing.
In the current version of DreamMirror, we may also generate periodic insight reports derived from recent journal activity and previously saved entries.
We do not treat AI-generated reflections as statements of fact. They are reflective outputs generated from the information available to the system.
5. What “Private” Means in the App
If an entry is marked as private, DreamMirror may hide or reduce its preview in app lists and other parts of the interface. In the current version of the app, “private” is primarily a display and discretion setting inside the product.
Marking an entry as private does not necessarily prevent it from being processed by DreamMirror features, including AI analysis or report generation, when those features are used.
6. Legal Bases for Processing
Where applicable, we process personal data on one or more of the following legal bases: to provide the service you request, to pursue legitimate interests such as security and service improvement, to comply with legal obligations, and, where required, based on your consent.
7. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in the following limited situations:
- With service providers that help us operate DreamMirror, such as hosting, database, storage, queue/processing, and AI providers.
- With OpenAI when dream content or related structured data is processed for reflections or insight generation.
- With legal authorities or other parties when required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and security.
- As part of a merger, acquisition, financing, or asset transfer, subject to appropriate confidentiality and legal protections.
Service providers are expected to process information only for authorized business purposes and under appropriate confidentiality and security obligations.
8. Data Retention
We retain account information, dream content, and related reflection data for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain legitimate business records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and comply with legal obligations.
Dream entries and account data are generally retained until you delete them or request account deletion, unless longer retention is required for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or dispute resolution.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Your Choices and Rights
Inside the app, you may be able to edit or delete journal entries, change certain preferences, and request deletion of your account.
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may also have additional privacy rights. If you believe such rights apply to you, please use the contact method listed in the app store listing associated with DreamMirror.
11. Account Deletion
If you create an account, you may request deletion of your account and associated data through the account deletion controls made available in the app. We may retain limited information when necessary for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or dispute resolution.
12. Children’s Privacy
DreamMirror is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly seek to collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that personal information from a child under 13 has been collected without appropriate authorization, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
13. International Data Transfers
DreamMirror and its service providers may process information in countries other than the one where you live. Where required, we take steps designed to provide appropriate safeguards for international transfers of personal data.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app, our practices, legal requirements, or operational needs. When we do, we will update the effective date above. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice within the app or through other appropriate channels.
15. Contact
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, your data, or an account deletion request, please use the contact method listed in the app store listing associated with DreamMirror.
